The Florence Blvd. Church of Christ (Florence, Alabama) offers two periods per week during which adults engage in collaborative Bible study: Sunday morning and Wednesday evening. These periods are collaborative in the sense that the teacher and students interact with each other. In fact, the primary difference between the sermon delivered during the worship service and the Bible class is the element of interaction, which benefits the class by promoting engagement with the material and reciprocal learning. Classes differ from sermons also in their restricted age range and social location, which both allows for more detailed treatment of issues specific to a certain group and encourages community building.
Program Objectives:
Regular participation in the Florence Blvd. Adult Bible classes will encourage students to:
- Know general Bible content.
- Understand biblical theology.
- Appreciate the role of the church in God’s plan for the world.
- Value one’s personal role within the church.
- Adopt a biblical lifestyle.
